Ah. it's that simple! Mormorsrutor literally means "granny squares" in swedish, but I thought that was just a local name... I wonder where the name originally came from? Who the original granny was? ;)
It´s nice that they have a name in english and swedish, my friends that use to crochet call them "grannies" as there is no name for those beautiful squares in spanish...
They are called "granny squares" in America at least. :-)
